Angling as a Way of Life and Finding Quality Fishing Tackle Online

Fishing has been around since the dawn of time, firstly as a food source, and then as a sport. As a sport, in many countries of the world today it is considered the foremost participatory activity. None-the-less, even with the sophisticated equipment available to the newest participant, many try it once and go back to their old hobby, or try it once and become immediately hooked (pun intended). Fortunately for aspiring anglers, stores are now selling quality fishing tackle online for the convenience of today’s consumers. Fishing - or angling - is like that. It gets into your skin. It becomes a way of life. We’ve all heard of golf widows but believe me, there are far more fishing widows. Of course, like many spouses before them, if they can’t beat them they join them, and many become keen anglers themselves.

Buying Fishing Tackle Online-3 Factors in Picking the Best Lure Colour

Artificial baits or lures are made to resemble prey to attract fish. A quick look at the online inventory of vendors such as Bid2Fish will show you a broad assortment of lures and discount fishing tackle in different shapes, sizes and colours. Many anglers prefer lures over live baits as the former create stronger vibrations that help draw fish more easily. Colour might also be another contributing factor as it helps fish locate their target before they are engulfed by sound or smell.

Catching a Snapper: Things to Note When Buying Fishing Tackle Online

Snapper (Pagrus Auratus) is undeniably one of the most prized game fishes in Australia. Fishing for a really big snapper can be very challenging, though, and many consider it a feat to catch something as heavy as 10kg. In Western Australia, pink snapper that have a distinctive pink and silver to copper colour can weigh between 2kg and 8kg. In general, snapper are found in almost every reef and in any accommodating channel or harbour. Recreational fishers usually schedule their trips during snapper breeding and schooling season as snappers are at the height of their appetite, and consequently, are easier to catch. According to Recfishwest.com, pink snapper typically spawn for about 3-5 months starting around October, a behaviour that sends armadas of fishing boats scurrying off to hot spots such as Shark Bay and Cockburn Sound. (Keeping in mind area closures during this period.)

Of Fishing Rods, Reels, and Other Tackle

A WA fisherman got more than he bargained for when he went out fishing last March 23, 2015. Albany local Brendan Hilder was out handline fishing for salmon on Shelley Beach when his fishing line caught a massive 13-foot tiger shark. This resulted in a 2-hour tussle between man and fish. The struggle was captured in a series of YouTube videos that went viral almost instantly. Although tiger sharks are a protected species in Western Australia and catching them entails penalties and fines, Fisheries WA said in a statement that Hilder will not be penalised because it was obvious from the video that he was unaware that what he caught was a tiger shark. "It was only when he pulled it in to shallow waters he became aware, at which point he called for a knife to cut it free,” a Fisheries representative said.
