Perth
is a great place for fishing with its many rivers and lakes. Along with a wide
coastline, you’ll have plenty of locations to visit if you want a quiet
afternoon of letting the fishes bite. The problem with having that many choices
is that you may end up setting up at a dud spot. Here are a few places to bring
your fishing tackle along, where a good catch is more or less assured:
- Lancelin.
A tourist town about an hour out of the city, the
selection here depends on where you set yourself up. If you’re in the mood
for herring, just stay at the jetty. Whiting can be found around the
beaches. The wharf is the place for flounder or flathead.
- North
and South Mole Fremantle. If you want an easy time
of it, North Mole has a wide array of fish biting in the area. Herring and
garfish are the mainstay of the area, but you can expect rays, snapper,
and even sharks to drop in. South Mole is for those who want to fish among
the rocks in reasonable safety. Like the North Mole, expect herring and
garfish for your catch.
- Rottnest Island. The small island off of Perth is a fisherman’s paradise. Beginners to experienced anglers can have a great time with all of the types of fish swimming around from herring to pike.
