How to Identify the Most Ideal Fishing Rods for Your Specific Needs

Composed of the blank, which is the long tubular part, and the butt, which is where the reel will be attached, your rod’s length determines what sort of fishing it can be used for. Longer rods can cast farther and have more reach. This makes them ideal for beach fishing and rock fishing. Shorter rods come in a couple of forms. Short boat rods are more robust, and can support heavier lines. And short light action rods are great for some river/lake applications, and have great sensitivity and feel. A rod’s durability and purpose are also influenced by what materials went into its making. Blanks are now commonly made of fibreglass or graphites, or a mixture of the two; blank-making companies follow their own formulas. In any case, the composition can influence the rod’s action (i.e., how it bends) as well as casting weights and strength of the rod.
