Whenever tuna begin feeding along the Eastern Seaboard’s offshore canyons from September to November, and off Australia’s south-eastern coast from May through July, it’s a field day for experienced and rookie anglers alike. Tuna fishing can be quite challenging, especially without the appropriate fishing tackle and angling savvy. For one, the speed and weight of tuna make the chase quite tricky since they can swim as fast as 50 miles/hour and weigh as much as 1,000 pounds. Fortunately, the old, reliable technique that is chumming (otherwise known as chunking) almost never fails.
